GuitarDUO Srdjan Bulatovic & Darko Nikcevic

The Guitar DUO Srdjan Bulatovic (Doctor of Classical Guitar) and Darko Nikcevic (Flamenco guitarist and Master of Audio Technology) has earned international acclaim through exceptional virtuosity and powerful, emotive performances. They notably gave two celebrated concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2016 and 2017.

Their distinctive musical voice blends Balkan irregular rhythms, the beauty of the Mediterranean, and the mystique of the Orient. Collaborating for over three decades, they have performed across the United States, Russia, United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Poland, United Arab Emirates, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Azerbaijan, and Albania.

Their compositions are defined by stylistic and rhythmic diversity, rich technique, and expressive dynamics, while remaining deeply rooted in Montenegrin tradition, world and film music, and contemporary styles.

They have released ten albums, including their three most recent on the prestigious Naxos Records label.

Their music has been praised by leading international magazines such as American Record Guide, Akustik Gitarre, Ritmo, Chitarre, and MusicWeb International. Apple Music has featured them on editorial playlists, notably The Guitar—the definitive collection of contemporary classical guitar.

Their works are regularly aired on esteemed radio stations worldwide, including BBC Radio 3 (UK), Hawaii Public Radio, CJSF (Canada), New Hampshire Public Radio, WRTI (Philadelphia), KWBU (Texas), WEKU (Kentucky), KVNO News (Nebraska), KXCR (Oregon), NDR Kultur (Germany), and DZFE (Philippines).

Two of their pieces appear on the compilation Comfortable Guitar, released by Naxos Japan.

Naxos Sheet Music Publishing has issued 14 original compositions by the duo, making them the first composers from the region to be included in this prestigious global catalog.

Beyond solo and duo guitar works, they are the authors of the ballet Mediterranean, the fantasia for two guitars and orchestra The Secret, and the symphonic piece Europe Symphony.

In recognition of their artistic contributions, Srdjan Bulatovic and Darko Nikcevic received Montenegro’s highest honor—the Thirteenth of July Award.
